Celebrating Native American Heritage Month
November 1, 2024
Dear Campus Community,
Throughout the month of November, we recognize an important part of our culture and history with the celebration of .
While we honor all Native American tribes in November, it is important to remember that the land where 51ÂÜÀò sits and the greater Los Angeles Basin are the traditional homelands of the Gabrielño/Tongva Nation. We acknowledge the tribe’s legacy and their continuing presence in Southern California. We also share our optimism of the passage of a bill last year to provide federal recognition to the Gabrielño/Tongva peoples.
As we recognize and lift up the many diverse groups that make up our campus community, we invite you to learn more about the history, culture and profound contributions Native Americans have made to our nation featured in from the 51ÂÜÀò library.
On Wednesday, November 13th a performance by RedBoy Productions - A Celebration of Native American Heritage Month - will take place in the 51ÂÜÀò Theatre from 12 - 2 p.m. More details of this event will be available via email and on the Chaffey events calendar.
Have a wonderful Friday!
